Go!Fest is all about education and fun.  Check out some of the great activities that showcase how people with disabilities are living life without limitations, including service dog demonstrations, performances by the Orange Grove singers, puppet shows hosted by Kids on the Block, face painters, a huge Touch-A-Truck section and the incredible creatures that make the Chattanooga Zoo their home.

Art Expo:


Go!Fest 2010 is looking for artists with disabilities to show their art, photography, pottery or any sort of art medium

Touch-A-Truck Exhibit



This year’s Touch-A-Truck Exhibit will feature many amazing opportunities for families to view various pieces of equipment including, but certainly not limited to, the following:

1. Chattanooga Police Department S.W.A.T. vehicles,    Police cars, armored personnel carriers, and K-9 unit.

2. Chattanooga Fire Department will have several pieces of equipment on display including the Fire Prevention Smoke Trailer exhibit, an antique fire truck and historic steamer from the early 1890’s, rescue truck, and hopefully, the new fire boat.

3. Chattanooga Public Works Equipment such as dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, recycling truck, garbage truck, and other pieces of earthmoving fun.

4. Hamilton County EMS will have an ambulance and their Mobile Command Center Vehicle.

5. Chattanooga Police Department Beat the Heat program and Race Car/Dragster.

6. The Totherow race car built especially for disabled race car Driver, Tim Totherow.

7. Erlanger’s Life Force Helicopter landing and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

8. United States Marine Corp Howitzer Cannon display and 6-ton personnel carrier.

9. United States Army National Guard Missile Launcher and helicopter landing.

10. Civil War Confederate and Union Army Re-enactors with Cannon and Calvary displays.

11. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and new Mobile Command Unit.

Visual Experience:

 

Go!Fest 2010 will incorporate a visual experience into the festivals activities.  The goal is to incorporate new and interactive visitor experiences to help add to the amazing exhibits and activities that are already at the Chattanooga Zoo.

Assistive Technology:

How do you translate your name into Braille?  How do you tie your shoe string with only one hand?  How do you surf the Net without using your hands, or your eyes?  What if you needed to talk to the doctor but cannot speak?

Assistive Technology demonstrations at 2010 Go!Fest event will showcase all these things as well as educate on how to listen to music if you are deaf or read a book if you are blind.

Go!Fest 2010 will have many other technologies available that are designed to make the lives of people more self-sufficient!
